Last week saw eight members of the Belchford Felting Group come together for a Nuno Felted Collar Workshop.

Using the “tile” technique we combined superfine Merino fibre with silk fabrics, most of which were bought from local charity shops. All of our collars were backed with Uzbek silk for a wonderful, soft feel against the skin.

Alison chose a warm, Autumnal colour palette…..

Everyone did a terrific job and took home something that’s not only unique and beautiful but very practical too!

It’s great to see you were inspired to have a go at the tile technique Lea and your collar is beautiful! If you wanted a lighter weight result with more drape you could also try this technique with much thinner “tram lines” between the silks and one thin layer of fibres, laid herringbone. I’ve been looking at your blog and you have a wonderful talent for felting! Are you in the UK?

The Belchford group are producing some wonderful felt Ruth. To think some of them were completely new to Felting when they joined they should be very proud of what they are achieving,

All the colour combinations are pretty. The participants not only learnt a new skill and had a fun day but they also took home something they could wear. Now that’s a good workshop!
